REVIEW OF THE SHOW |
|
Israel's 30th annual National Championship Arabian Show was one for the history books for sheer excitement as well as record number of competitors, record number of overseas visitors from several continents, and a great party atmosphere throughout the show. The weather was unseasonably hot and humid, yet entire families came out to spend both days and even the youngest of the children appeared to completely enjoy themselves. Held on the 15th and 16th of October at the Kibbutz Alonim Riding Center in the Galilee, the show ran like clockwork from start to finish, with both competitors and audience very impressed with the facility, stabling, and general organization. Over 190 horses were judged under ECAHO rules by an international panel of judges which included Mrs. Titti Gagliani of Italy, Mrs. Anna Stojanowska of Poland, and Ms. Irina Stigler of Russia. Guest DC was Dr. Patricia Borstel of Belgium, who worked alongside our local DC. Just a few highlights of the show include the sudden emergence of some younger sires, for example, Mouadaar BKV (Al Bilal x Barakis Whisper) who sired this year's Gold Medal Filly Foal as well as the Silver and Bronze Colt Foal Champions -- all from his first foal crop. The young sire Nader al Jamal's (Ansata Sinan x Savannah CC), winning progeny included the Silver Medal National Champion Filly, the Gold Medal Champion Colt Foal, and the Silver and Bronze Filly Foal Champion winners. Few will forget the mature stallion class when the recently imported True Colours (Thee Desperado x Daheda), sire of this year's Gold Medal National Champion Colt, faced none other than Israel's favorite son Laheeb (Imperial Imdal x AK Latifa), in a hotly contested battle for top honors, each displaying his own distinctively style of Arabian beauty and type, and each equally charismatic and exciting to watch. The two tied in total points but Laheeb eventually won the class with higher scores for type. In a most exciting semi-finals Laheeb went on to once again be named Israel [Gold Medal] National Champion Stallion with True Colours behind him taking the Silver Medal and Laheeb's own son, the 2006 stallion Al Raheb AA (The Vision HG) grabbing the Bronze. No doubt, all who were on hand to witness the face-off between these beautiful specimens will never forget it. Enjoy the great photos, courtesy of our own Menashe Cohen, and be sure to put us in your date book so as not to miss next year's show. Tzviah Idan |
