FACTS

Like his ancient namesake - the Egyptian architect Iemhotep - this royally bred stallion is the "architect" of a new generation. A new generation of Ansata Arabian Stud's best foals. The leggy, long-necked Iemhotep is a beautiful stallion, who took the honours of a U.S. National Top Ten Futurity Colt in 1996. His type, size and his graceful bearing make him a serious contender in every show ring. "He satisfied my mental image of type," said judge Dan Christy, who made Iemhotep the champion of his class at the 1994 Egyptian Event. "He had an extraordinarily beautiful head, neck and topline." Important traits he passes on to his get. In 2003 he was named Supreme Champion Stallion of the Egyptian Event.

PEDIGREE

With the Ansata Iemhotep get in the showring now, you are seeing a somewhat stretchier look in the Ansata horses, without sacrificing the typical Ansata-bred virtues. That could be the influence of his sire, the late Prince Fa Moniet. Ansata Iemhotep's dam is the classically beautiful Ansata Nefara (Ansata Halim Shah x Ansata Sudarra by Ansata Abu Sudan), who also gave birth to Iemhotep's full brother, Ansata Sinan (European Junior Champion Colt and a sire of World, European and National Champions). And of course there is Ansata Halim Shah as his maternal grand sire. This all-time straight Egyptian hero revolutionized breeding programs in Europe and the Middle East.

PERSONALITY

"This stallion is like having Ansata Ibn Sudan back. In fact, after years of Sudan's stall being empty, Iemhotep moved in. We think he has the scope and stretch to do it again on the National level. He's so refined, so elegant," says Judith Forbis, his breeder and owner. "We've had a lot of good horses over the years, but this one has us excited. The minute he walks into the showring, he looks as though he is thinking, 'This is for me!' He loves to show off."
