FACTS

Imported from Germany as a foal at the side of his dam, Safir was well balanced and refined from the very beginning. He has matured into a classic silvery-grey Arabian stallion with big black eyes, excellent tail carriage, beautiful face with well-sculpted cheek and jowl, nice group, strong shoulder, wide and strong chest, and good legs. But more than anything, Safir has type. As the Sheikh's personal treasure he has not been shown, but his career as a breeding stallion has netted him the following awards: 1998 Qatar Get of Sire Champion, 1999 Qatar Get of Sire Champion and Leading Sire (National and International Show) and 2000 Qatar Leading Sire (International Show). His son Ashhal Al Rayyan is
an international multi champion.

PEDIGREE

Safir is reflecting the combination of his elegant bloodlines through his sire, Salaa El Dine (Ansata Halim Shah x Hanan), and his dam, Aisha (Ansata Halim Shah x Ghazalla), plus the doubling of Ansata Halim Shah – yet he has his own distinctive "look". Safir's parents are the best examples of Dr. Nagel's legendary Katharinenhof breeding program in Germany, the aim of which is to produce highly refined horses, reflecting lightness and oriental flair. Renamed in Qatar as "Bint Halim Shah" in honour of her sire Ansata Halim Shah – Sheikh Abdulaziz's all-time favourite horse – Aisha is one of Sheikh Abdulaziz's most prized mares. A Qatar International Reserve Champion Mare, Bint Halim Shah was – together with Safir, Amal, Bint Sabah, and Ameena – among the first group of horses purchased from Dr. Nagel. She represents the Ubayyan Om Jurays strain, one of Sheikh Abdulaziz's favourite strains.

PERSONALITY

A proud stallion with a kind disposition, Safir carries himself with grace and agility in hand or under saddle. He is truly one of those rare individuals who would grace any stable in the world – he is everything an exquisite Arabian stallion should be: kind but still playful, and sometimes a bit curious and arrogant.
